DJ Robby will host filmmakers Anna Moot-Levin and Laura Green Discuss "The Providers" Documentary with Dr. Leslie Hayes, Friday 4/6 from 8-9am.
The documentary is about rural health care in northern New Mexico. It'll be a bit of a change-up from Robby's normal format, but should be really interesting. The documentary will be shown at the Full Frame Festival this weekend. Tune in at 8am Eastern!
Tune in Sunday 12/20 for an hour with Durham's very own BONDSMEN! Phil Lee and Ken Haywood will join DJ Robby for and interview, and spin a few old 45s from the Bondsmen catalog. And don't forget, they'll be playing a show on 12/27 at Motorco with Thee Dirtybeats!
DJ Robby will be hosting "Close Up The Honky Tonks" this Saturday, November 7, starting at noon EDT, featuring 2 hours of the Handsome Family. Robby's had a long history with these guys; he'll be playing a ton of their hits and a few of their misses. Plus a few gems from cassettes Brett sent him many years ago. You'll hear stuff no one outside the band has heard, and maybe some that even the band themselves don't know about. If there's time, he might even spin one or two from Brett's pre-Handsome Family groups (Albuquerque's own Sleep and the Gargantuans), which may or may not feature this very DJ!
Sunday, February 9, 2014, 9-10pm marks the exact day and time the Beatles first appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show 50 years ago. Love 'em or hate 'em, the Beatles' first short appearance on the show was arguably "the show that launched ten-thousand bands," ushering in the garage and psychedelic musical revolution in the mid-sixties. Music was never the same (And you won't be either, after you hear these novelty records)! Robby will be focusing on the humorous knock-offs, tribues, radio promos, and joke records released in the era just after "Beatlemania" hit the US shores. Tune in from 9-10pm Sunday night right here at WXDU!
Tune in tonight (Sunday) from 9-10pm, Robby brings the Cryptics up on the air to discuss Thee Cuckoo Mash!
