note that while punky color is essentially permanent, manic panic will fade out noticeably with each shampoo. i took advantage of these properties to create an effect of highlights gradually coming into my hair (as the manic panic washed out). with the help of some friends i dyed each strand a different color, with deeper colors underneath and lighter colors (and a higher proportion of manic panic) at the crown. this somehow wound up looking "natural" although the colors were not even remotely natural!
