Ella Fitzgerald I Get A Kick Out of You The Cole Porter Songbook Verve rec 1956 note Fitzgerald sings the original lyric in the second verse: "some get a kick from cocaine, I'm sure if I took even one whiff it would bore me terrific'ly too" this was changed in 1934 because they wanted to use the song in a movie and a reference to cocaine wouldn't pass the Hays Code
Frank Sinatra I Get a Kick Out of You '57 In Concert Artanis rec 1957 here Sinatra sings the "official" replacement lyric: "Some like perfume from Spain." Sinatra sang the original lyric on Songs for Young Lovers, his most famous recording of the song, but often sang this version in concert. Note Sinatra laughs at the reference to Spain which wasn't known as a source of high end perfume
Dinah Washington I Get a Kick Out of You For Those In Love Emarcy rec 1955 Washington here with a (to my knowledge) unique approach: she repeats champagne with "Some get a kick from champagne, I'm sure if I took even one sip..." Champagne already appears in the first verse
Frank Sinatra I Get a Kick Out of You Sinatra and Swingin' Brass Reprise rec 1962 Sinatra again with my favorite take on the lyric: "Some like a bop-type refrain, I'm sure if I heard even one riff..." The only other person I've heard sing this version is Tony Bennett. thank you for requesting this deep dive in this song & its changing lyrics! What a great request
