NOW PLAYING:

WXDU News, Sports, and Information Sunday 12/20 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Get the latest in science news and developments on this week's episode of The Endless Frontier first at 6:00 tonight.

Then at 6:30, With Good Reason explores the impact of music in an episode called "Here We Come A Caroling." In this episode, host Sarah McConnell speaks with a music therapist to learn why music is so integral to the holiday season. The pair also discusses an all-female a cappella group that addresses the issues facing young women, the Sephardic Jewish song tradition behind one accordionist's work and the Virginia Military Institute band's quest for the Tournament of the Roses Parade.

Finally, tune in for WXDU Sports at 7:00. Martin will kick things off with comments from Duke football coach Cutcliffe about losing Jeremy Cash to a wrist injury, the team's readiness for the Pinstripe Bowl, and Duke offensive coordinator Scottie Montgomery taking over the head coaching spot at Eastern Carolina next season, all as the team gears up for their bowl game against Indiana in New York next Saturday. Up next is Duke women's basketball. After the team's recent tough loss to South Carolina, the Blue Devils bounced back with two home wins in a row. Martin's got recaps of those games, including postgame comments from Coach McCallie and Duke players, along with Massachusetts's Coach Dawley and Liberty's Coach Green. Then Martin covers the Duke men's basketball squad's loss to Utah Friday, and Finian St. Omer reports from Duke's home win against Florida Southern. Finally, we'll hear the second episode of the Center for Documentary Studies series Scene on Radio. This episode, titled "Friends and Basketball," looks at whether sports can unite members of diverse communities.
