Aug. 2nd marks the 10th anniversary of the death of legendary musician Fela
Kuti. To celebrate his life and music, WXDU is presenting "24 Hours
ofAfrobeat." Tune in to hear music by Fela, Tony Allen and other pioneers of
the sound in 70s Nigeria and Ghana, as well as those keeping the sound alive
today, including Femi Kuti, Chicago Afrobeat Project, and Antibalas.

Known for his work with the orchestras of Jose Fajardo, Johnny Pacheco,
Tito Puente and many others, Bravo talks about his creative process as
a prolific arranger and composer, his groundbreaking salsa band Tipica
'73, and his thoughts on the next generation of Cuban pianists. The
interview, recorded backstage at the Blue Note in New York, airs in
three segments between music sets. This edition of "Azucar y Candela"

WXDU Funk Disco Dance Friday presents yet another Dance Party!
Funk Disco Dance Friday (FDDF) is a radio show dedicated to unearthing the
dance rhythms of the past. FDDF DJs explore the dusty world of funk, disco,
and hip-hop grooves and bring a fresh batch of beats, horns, and divas
directly to the Triangle's earhole weekly. The show airs 6pm-8pm Fridays on
WXDU, 88.7FM.
