WXDU Presents: SPRAY PAINT, WHATEVER BRAINS & DAVIDIANS at Duke Coffeehouse April 1st

WXDU proudly presents three of the South's best bands at Duke Coffeehouse on April 1st. Austin, TX gnarled postpunks SPRAY PAINT are stopping through Durham for the first time on a short run of dates around the Southeast. Their "Clean Blood, Regular Acid" LP on Monofonus Press was one of the best albums of 2014. Along for the ride are everyone's favorite Raleigh punk weirdos WHATEVER BRAINS, and leftfield hardcore manglers DAVIDIANS. This is a show you won't want to miss:

WXDU Local Music Series Show TOMORROW (4/18)! T0W3RS, GREAT ARCHITECT & JOHNNY ALRIGHT!

WXDU's Local Music Series ends its Spring run tomorrow night at the Duke Coffeehouse with a triple bill of the highest quality. From Raleigh, you have shapeshifting weirdo pop of T0W3RS. Making its way all the way from Charlotte is the transcendant avant-jazz splattering of Great Architect, and from Glittertown, you can enjoy the wild Stooges/Bolan-bruising rawk of Johnny Alright. Doors are at 8pm. Show starts at 9pm. $5 or free with a Duke ID!

NEW BUMS live on WXDU today at 3:30pm!

The duo of Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance, 200 Years, Comets on Fire) and Donovan Quinn (Skygreen Leopards, solo LPs on Northern-Spy) put out their first full length as NEW BUMS just a few weeks ago, Voices in a Rented Room (on Drag City Records)). Tonight they'll be playing an early show at The Pinhook (117 W. Main St. in Durham) with Tashi Dori that starts at 7pm. Before that, they'll be on air talking with our own J. Kelly Davis and playing a few songs. Good ragged-but-poppy acoustic duo stuff FFO: stripped down Big Star, Epic Soundtracks, 70s psych-folk, etc. Don't miss it!

Daniel Lupton (Sorry State Records) Guest DJing & Interview 10pm - 12am WEDNESDAY (2/19)

Tune in THIS WEDNESDAY 10pm-12am for a special "Pull Down the Shades" with guest DJ Daniel Lupton.  Daniel is the man behind Sorry State: the label, the distro and store (http://www.sorrystaterecords.com/).  Since 2005 he's ran the label out of his Carrboro home and put out a slew of amazing punk LPs & 45s, both local (Whatever Brains, Double Negative, Brain F≠, Cross Laws, Stripmines, etc.) and non-local (The Shitty Limits, Instängd, The #1s, Broken Prayer, Libyans, Rough Kids, etc.).  He also runs a primo distro for the best in punk/hardcore/garage/metal and beyond and recently opened up a new storefront in Raleigh (317 W. Morgan St.).  Daniel knows his stuff. We're very excited to have him spin some records for a few hours.  You won't wanna miss it!  Listen live 88.7fm or stream it on our website (that little box in the top right corner of our homepage)!
